Dallas Goes Pop

It’s been a busy, colorful week in the Museum’s Barrel Vault gallery. We have been putting the final touches on the nationally touring exhibition International Pop, which opens this Sunday, October 11, including the installation of León Ferrari’s The Western Christian Civilization (La civilización occidentaly cristiana) from 1965. This morning DFW press were given a sneak peek of the groundbreaking and critically acclaimed exhibition.  Here’s your behind-the-scenes look, and mark your calendars for Sunday.

Dallas begins with Pop when JAMES ROSENQUIST showed with Troup Gallery in 1964 to 1969…and his folks had lived on Valley Ridge at the time is how it all began then in 1966 Barbara and Mr Rosenquist were involved with the First Fine Art event at North Park in 1966, and he later went with Chapman Kelly Gallery and Janie C.Lee Gallery in 1969….

.While the F.1.11 series at North Park may be a New York dealer…Warhol and Rauchenburg and others came later to Dallas or had some kind of showing of their works while Claus Oldenburg is the First of his kind to have come to Dallas when The Store was happening over at the Dallas Contemporary Museum on Cedars Springs in 1962….
